A jury has awarded a family $5.7 million in the wrongful death of an employee who was shot and killed at a gas station/car wash during an attempted robbery in 2009.
CBS Miami reports that the gas station/car wash where the tragic killing took place ranked in the top three in the nation for its robbery risk. The mother of the slain 24-year-old man claimed that the owners of the station did nothing to protect her son or customers from danger.
The wrongful death attorneys in Florida at Farah & Farah recommend that you seek the services of our law firm if you believe that the negligent actions (or inactions) of another party are responsible for the avoidable death of a loved one.
According to CBS, the victim was sitting under a tent at the car wash, waiting for the next customer to arrive, when three men came up from behind and attempted to rob him. Without looking back, the employee ran and was shot as he tried to flee. The men then took off in a white GMC Yukon Denali.
Sadly, the man left behind two small children – one of whom was born after his tragic death.
The victim’s mother says the death was entirely preventable. When asked why she filed the lawsuit, the mother told CBS Miami, “I just really don’t want this to happen to another family.”
